At, we are all about promoting the idea of creating art using inexpensive and readily available materials.

Making art from recycled items is of particular interest to us.

That's why we were so excited to hear about Kuttlefish - a community and marketplace where buyers meet sellers to exchange goods made with reused, recycled, and upcycled content.

As a mother-daughter operation, we were kind of excited to discover that Kuttlefish is a mostly family-owned and operated company. Ian Moise, his dad Samuel and their team believe that reusing, recycling, or upcycling a material is a good idea, and materials are worth something, even after they've been thrown away.

Imagine a world without waste. A world where everything is recycled, reused and reimagined. That is the goal of Kuttlefish and its partners.

On, you can buy and sell in the marketplace, become inspired in their idea place, engage with others, follow them, favorite their work or ideas, discuss with them on the message boards or send them private messages.

It is such a cool concept -- one I KNOW artists, teachers and homeschoolers will LOVE tremendously.

Here is a quick glimpse at some of the ideas you can find at Kuttlefish:

Toy airplanes made of shampoo bottles:

A giant octopus sculpture made of plastic bags:

A table made of deflated balloons:

There are so many ideas here that you'll need several days to go through them all. And, if you are a maker specializing in art made from recycled materials (like our Jantje), there is a place for you to sell your wares.

Check it out. You won't be sorry!
